Heather Liebe is a warm, empathetic psychotherapist who is passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges in addition to reaching their full potential. She empowers people to believe in themselves and their own intrinsic value. Heather creates a space that is accepting, supportive, safe, and non-judgmental. In this space, her clients are encouraged to explore their experiences as well as their desires for meaningful change.

Heather works with individuals and couples who experience varying issues, including: ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), relationship and communication struggles, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and trauma. Heather is also enthusiastic about supporting women throughout a variety of topics, including friendships, self-esteem, self-compassion, perinatal, postnatal, menopause and many others.

Heather’s therapeutic approach is collaborative and affirming.

By building an authentic connection and relationship with each client, Heather creates and tailors an individual plan uniquely designed for that person and their specific goals. She finds value incorporating tools and strategies found within Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to assist clients in reaching their goals and positively impacting their lives. Heather is also a Gottman Method Couples Counseling, Level 1, certified therapist.

EDUCATION

Heather attended Illinois State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science with a minor in Psychology. She later pursued and completed her Master of Science degree in Counseling from National Louis University in Chicago, IL. Heather is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Wisconsin and Georgia and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois. She has completed additional training in Disaster Management, ADHD and Trauma Focused CBT. Heather is also a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher.

EXPERIENCE

Heather has experience in many different environments, including college campuses, private practice and telehealth. In 2013, Heather completed her internship at Harper Community College in the Access and Disabilities Services office. In this role, she assisted students with accommodation plans, taught Career Development courses and had an integral role in creating the TAP (Transition Autism Program) which received national recognition. After completing her internship at Harper College, Heather worked in two additional roles in higher education.

One role was specifically focused on the Women’s Program at Harper College and another role was as a Senior Counselor at Universal Technical Institute. In these experiences, she provided individual therapy, accommodation planning, scholarship funding, career planning, domestic violence education and participated and collaborated with other departments for holistic support. In addition, Heather created partnerships with community agencies for additional resources. During this time, she also worked in a private practice setting focusing on marriage counseling and relationship issues.

After leaving higher education, Heather transitioned primarily to in person private practice and telehealth focusing on ADHD, ASD, anxiety, depression, relationship issues and life transitions. She has worked with a large diverse population in different areas of the country. This has deepened her passion and dedication to meet each client exactly where they currently are in their life’s journey.

  • ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) Certification

Her background and experiences enable her to be an extremely effective therapist who is comfortable counseling diverse groups of people.
